The Softrak Cut + Collect pairs a direct-cut flail harvester with a model-specific rear collection bin, giving a single machine that can cut, chop and carry away vegetation in one pass - ideal for restoring and maintaining wetlands, reed beds and other environmentally sensitive habitats.
The well-proven direct-cut system, with a remote-controlled electric discharge chute, can pick up swath or cut material directly, and will work in standing water up to approximately 350mm deep. It handles a wide range of vegetation, from typical wetland habitats to bracken, heather, weeds and gorse.
Due to its unique construction, the cutting flails are relatively insensitive to foreign objects such as stones and stumps, and are easily replaced or sharpened when the hood is opened via its lever handle and linkage. Maintenance costs are minimal thanks to the sturdy flail rotor and heavy 1.4kg two-piece flails made from hardened steel, mounted independently so only the worn tip needs replacing. The patented flail suspension locks the flails under centrifugal force during operation for high cutting power, and automatically swings them back if they meet a stone or similar hard resistance.
Chopped material is blown clear over the cab into a front-loading collection bin sized to the carrier - 9m³ on the ST75, 11m³ on the ST75X, or 12m³ on the ST140 - built with a lightweight galvanised steel frame, aluminium-clad container and a full-height automatic opening/closing door.
The Softrak Cut and Collect System runs on the same low ground pressure tracked platform used across our all-terrain range — built to cut and collect reed and fen vegetation on ground too soft and boggy for conventional machinery, without damaging the habitat beneath it.
IN OPERATION | CARLTON MARSHES
Suffolk Wildlife Trust uses a Softrak Cut and Collect machine for annual reedbed maintenance across Carlton Marshes nature reserve near Lowestoft, working ground that's inaccessible to any other vehicle. The reserve's warden team credit it as "a vital bit of kit" for keeping the boggy fen and reedbed in condition for nesting marsh harriers, water rails and warblers.
